Joseph
Sturge (1793-1859) was an important British
abolitionist. He was a member of:

Society for the Mitigation and Gradual Abolition of
Slavery throughout the British Dominions, founded in
1807; and
-
the
British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, founded in
1839.
